Getting Real about Protecting Rhinos

An Interview with Simon Naylor of AndBeyond

In the video below, Carrie Asby of Nature Heart Retreats meets with Simon Naylor of AndBeyond, the conservation manager at Phinda Private Game Reserve in South Africa. Naylor has set the bar with his program for de-horning rhinos within the 66,000-acre reserve, making them less attractive to would-be poachers.

Hear from the man himself about the challenges of protecting these majestic animals and the opportunities for guests at the reserve to be part of the solution.

Watch now:

“For people I’ve seen participate in a rhino de-horning, it’s a life-changing experience. They would never otherwise get to touch an animal like that. Such a small thing helps the rhino, and it can also help change participants’ outlook and perception on the world. It’s an experience they take home with them,” Naylor says.

Participants in the Nature Heart Safari to South Africa will have the opportunity to assist Phinda’s conservation team in a hands-on rhino de-horning. It is an incomparable experience to directly impact the well-being of another species on our planet. Your heart and soul will never be the same.
